Cycling & Jogging Track Construction in the UAE

A community track lives outdoors, in full sun, used every morning before the heat and every evening after it. It has to grip a running shoe and a bike tyre, drain a cloudburst, hold its colour through August, and stay comfortable underfoot for years. Raymond Sport designs and builds cycling and jogging tracks across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the wider UAE — seamless EPDM and polyurethane surfaces on properly engineered sub-bases, with drainage, distance marking and lighting under one contract. Building sports and recreation facilities here since 1987.

Turnkey Track Construction, Start to Finish

A track that fails always fails from underneath. The surface is the last thing that goes down and the first thing people blame — so Raymond Sport takes responsibility for the whole build, from the ground up.

Turnkey scope of works for cycling and jogging track construction
# Scope item Detail
01 Route Survey & Levels Alignment, gradients, drainage falls and how the loop connects to paths, crossings and lighting.
02 Design & Specification Surface system, thickness, colour, width, distance markers and lighting — issued as drawings.
03 Approvals Support Material submittals, method statements and compliance documentation for consultant and authority review.
04 Earthworks & Sub-base Compacted aggregate sub-base or asphalt binder course laid to falls. The stage that decides whether the track survives.
05 Drainage Falls and, where needed, permeable build-up and laterals — because standing water ends a track's life faster than use.
06 Surface System Seamless EPDM wet-pour or PU spray-coat laid to specified thickness and finish.
07 Line & Distance Marking Lane lines, direction markers, kilometre and distance markers inlaid or applied.
08 Lighting LED path and track lighting designed, installed and commissioned for safe early-morning and evening use.
09 Handover & Warranty Snag list closed, as-built documentation, maintenance schedule and warranty pack issued.
Single Point of Responsibility

One contract, one team accountable from sub-base to finish line — so there is no gap between who built the ground and who laid the surface.

Cycling Track or Jogging Track — Often One Facility

In the UAE, cycling and jogging tracks are frequently built together — parallel lanes on one loop, or a shared surface with separated zones. The build is largely the same; the specification differs in a few important places.

Comparison of jogging track and cycling track specifications
Consideration Jogging / Running TrackComfort first Cycling TrackRoll first
Priority Shock absorption and comfort underfoot A firm, fast, consistent rolling surface
Typical Surface Cushioned EPDM or PU, softer build-up Firmer PU or dense EPDM
Width Narrower, single or two-lane Wider, allowing overtaking
Markings Distance and kilometre markers Direction, lane and give-way markings
Where They Meet Shared Loop
Shared loops in parks and communities, with lane separation and clear marking so run and cycle share the same route without conflict.
The Design Decision

Run and cycle want slightly different surfaces. On a shared track Raymond Sport specifies a build-up that serves both honestly, and marks it so the two uses do not conflict — which is exactly where a poorly planned community track goes wrong.

Track Surface Systems

There is no single "best" track surface — there is the right build-up for how the loop is used, how far people go on it, and how hard the sun hits it. These are the systems Raymond Sport specifies.

Cycling and jogging track surface systems compared
System What it is Best for
EPDM Wet Pour Poured SBR base + coloured EPDM wear layer, seamless. Comfortable, colourful community jogging and mixed-use tracks.
PU Spray Coat Polyurethane sprayed over a prepared base, firm and fast. Performance-leaning running and cycling surfaces.
Cushioned PU Rubber base under PU, more forgiving. Longer running loops where comfort matters.
Combination Different specs zoned across one loop. Shared cycle-and-run facilities.
In UAE Conditions

UV stability and drainage decide everything. A track that fades and cracks in two summers was specified for a cooler climate. Raymond Sport specifies UV-stable systems and designs the falls and sub-base for the rare, heavy rainfall that turns a badly built track into a canal.

Where We Build Them

The same core build, tuned to who uses the loop and how hard — from a residential amenity that has to sell homes to a municipal fitness loop that has to survive years of daily traffic.

01 Signature Application

Community & Residential Developments

A jogging and cycling loop is now a standard amenity in UAE master developments — District One, Nad Al Sheba, Jumeirah communities. It sells homes, and it has to look and perform the part for years.

02

Parks & Municipal Facilities

Public parks and municipal fitness loops, built for heavy daily use, long service life and low maintenance across a large area.

03

Schools, Universities & Campuses

Recreational running tracks and fitness loops for education campuses — often alongside sports courts and MUGAs on the same site.

04

Hotels, Resorts & Wellness

Guest running and cycling loops at resorts and wellness destinations, where the track is part of the amenity and the landscape design.

Distance Marking, Lighting and the Details That Get a Track Used

A track that is not marked, not lit and not comfortable gets built and then ignored. The details are what turn a surface into a facility people actually use.

Distance & Kilometre Markers So runners and cyclists can measure their loop.
Direction & Lane Marking Separating run and cycle, managing flow on a busy morning.
Lighting Most UAE track use is before sunrise and after sunset — an unlit track loses most of its usable hours.
Comfort Underfoot The right cushioning keeps people coming back.
Shade & Hydration Points Planned into the route, not added later.
Seamless Finish No joins or edges to trip a runner or catch a wheel.

Raymond Sport designs these in from the survey stage — because the difference between a track that gets used and one that gets ignored is decided long before the surface goes down.

Why Build Your Track With Raymond Sport

A community track is a long-term asset that has to survive the climate and stay used for years. Here is why developers, municipalities and consultants build theirs with us.

Cycling & Jogging Tracks: Frequently Asked Questions

The questions developers, consultants and facilities teams ask before building a track in the UAE.

What surface is used for jogging and cycling tracks in the UAE?

Most commonly seamless EPDM wet-pour or sprayed polyurethane (PU). EPDM is comfortable and colourful and suits mixed community use; PU is firmer and faster and leans towards performance running and cycling. Both must be UV-stable and laid on a properly drained sub-base to survive UAE conditions.

Can cycling and jogging tracks share one loop?

Yes, and in UAE communities they usually do. The build is largely the same, with the surface specified to serve both uses and the loop marked to separate cyclists from runners — which is what stops a shared track becoming a conflict.

How wide should a jogging or cycling track be?

It depends on expected traffic and whether run and cycle share the loop. A single-use jogging path is narrower than a shared cycle-and-run loop that needs overtaking room. Raymond Sport sizes it to the route and the community at survey stage.

How long does a track surface last in the UAE?

Typically 5–8 years before resurfacing, depending on the system, the sun exposure and how heavily it is used. UV and drainage, not footfall, are usually the limiting factors — which is why both are specified carefully at the start.

Do you install distance markers and lighting?

Yes. Distance and kilometre markers, direction and lane marking, and LED track lighting are part of the turnkey scope — because most UAE track use is before sunrise and after sunset, and an unmarked, unlit track does not get used.

How much does a jogging or cycling track cost in the UAE?

It depends on length, width, surface system, sub-base condition and whether drainage, marking and lighting are included. Raymond Sport prices against a drawn specification rather than a blanket rate per square metre, because the groundworks and scope vary enormously between projects.

Do you build tracks outside the UAE?

Yes. Raymond Sport delivers across the GCC, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait.
