TK – EPDM Flooring at Dubai Sports City (2024-02-06)

TK installed a durable EPDM rubber surface across the play areas at Dubai Sports City, completing the project on February 6, 2024. Starting with a laser-leveled asphalt sub-base, our crew applied a poured-in-place EPDM mix featuring a 12 mm wear layer over a 10 mm polyurethane binder. This combination delivers excellent shock absorption, UV stability, and slip resistance—ideal for high-traffic sports courts and playgrounds.

Key highlights:

• Sub-base Preparation: Existing asphalt was milled and resurfaced to achieve a perfectly even grade. A priming coat ensured strong adhesion between asphalt and polyurethane binder.

• EPDM Installation: A colored EPDM granule mix was uniformly broadcast into wet binder, then sealed to create a seamless, cushioned surface. Chosen pigments withstand intense sun exposure without fading.

• Safety & Performance: The finished flooring meets FIBA and ASTM standards for impact attenuation and surface friction, reducing injury risk while supporting activities like basketball, tennis, and general fitness.

• Maintenance & Longevity: With PU seal coats and UV-resistant EPDM granules, the flooring requires minimal upkeep—periodic surface cleaning and annual re-sealing keep it match-ready for years.

By integrating precise site work, premium EPDM materials, and rigorous quality checks, TK delivered a high-performance, low-maintenance sports surface that enhances safety and aesthetics at Dubai Sports City.
